Businesses may mail or drop off the Chamber Checks they have accepted to the Elko Area Chamber at 1405 Idaho Street. Include an invoice or receipt showing what is owed along with the checks. You may do this weekly or monthly. It is up to you! The Chamber will then issue a check back to your business.
The Chamber does encourage our members to give change back, but that is up to the individual member. The Chamber reimburses the member for the full face value of the Chamber Check.
Chamber Checks are easy to purchase. You can call the Chamber or drop by our office to make a Chamber Check order. They are available in $5, $10, $20 and $25 denominations.
Checks may be purchased in any amount. there is no minimum purchase required. A handling fee of 3% for purchases over $500 will be added to qualifying purchases. This helps offset the cost of printing.
Chamber Check signs notify customers that your business will accept Chamber Checks in exchange for goods sold or services rendered.
Only Chamber Members are eligible for reimbursement of Chamber Checks.
Chamber Checks may be used at any Chamber Member's business that chooses to accept Chamber Checks. There are no limitations to the products or services that can be purchased. The Chamber also provides signs that state "We Accept Chamber Checks" to our participating members. If a customer does not see this sign, we encourage them to ask the business if they are a Chamber Member and if they are willing to accept Chamber Checks.
It is important to shop with local area businesses who in turn support and donate to local events, schools, charities, community groups and non-profit organizations.
The Chamber Check program has proven to be beneficial to the community and encourages shopping locally. Almost $14 million dollars in Chamber Checks have been purchased since the Chamber Check program's inception. That's $14 million dollars that stayed in our community!
