Heriberto "Eddie" Cortez

Breeze Clear View

I’m a proud Elko native and Elko High School Graduate. I’m a licensed aircraft pilot and enjoy flying and joining in on the local pickle ball matches in my free time.

Community involvement is something I’ve always been passionate about. Whether it’s lending a hand, giving guidance, or advice, I believe we can all make a small difference. Most importantly, I am passionate about the small businesses I run in Elko.

Over the last 12 years, I’ve had the opportunity to work with several companies in the marketing and printing industry. I enjoyed directing customers to the best products as well as growing our business in team-based environments. I have spent a lot of time focusing on personal and business growth as well as everyday opportunities, which led me to taking the leap to self-employment.

Transparency, communication, commitment and attention to detail is my priority as a business owner. Without these components, customer satisfaction is unattainable. I am committed to always giving my customers the best experience possible and would do the same for the Chamber, if selected as a board member. Having the flexibility in my daily schedule will allow me to fulfill the requirements to attend meetings, events and other engagements and serve as a cheerleader for the Chamber. My interest in being a board member stems from the devotion I have for my hometown. Thank you for your consideration!

Todd Sorenson

Elko Federal Credit Union (EFCU)

I am the President and Chief Executive Officer of EFCU. I have been on the Elko Area Chamber Board for the last three years, and currently serve the Chamber membership, as Treasurer of the Executive Board. I suppose that is what those CPA credentials behind my name will get you!

As Treasurer, I review the financial results of the Chamber with CEO Billie Crapo each month and present those historical financial results to the Executive Board and the full Chamber Board of Directors on a monthly basis. The best part of my association with the Chamber is the business and community functions that the Chamber hosts. Whether it be attending Business Before or After Hours, community events such as Light Up the Night, the annual Christmas Party, or providing resources to the Chamber; these allow me to interact and serve our business community in the best of ways. I have a great appreciation for my time on the Elko Area Chamber Board, and I hope to earn your confidence in serving another term.

Leslie Maple

Great Basin College

I am proud to call Elko home and have a strong interest in supporting the prosperity of our community. My work experience in external affairs has helped me to build strong relationships throughout Nevada and within our local community, including connections with local leaders, donors, and alumni.

I currently serve as the Executive Director of Institutional Advancement at Great Basin College and understand the unique needs of both our college and business community. I am interested in building partnerships to help foster workforce development and economic growth. My experience in resource development and community engagement will help me effectively represent the Chamber’s interests, and I am eager to contribute to the continued success of our educational and business sectors.

I would make a great Chamber Board Member because I have a passion for small business and a lot of experience in many areas of hospitality. I have a good business sense, as well as a lot of good ideas to share with the Chamber.

I believe that the Chamber is a true asset and work very hard to assist all small businesses.

Cheryl M. Henning

I am honored to express my intention to run for the Board of Directors position. This intent is driven by my passion for our community. To me, being on the Board means embracing responsibility and commitment. Our diverse Board deserves an inclusive environment where every voice is valued. I believe real change comes from listening and empowering others. My goal is, what can we do to make it better?

I've been a Chamber Director for the last two years, and feel I am still learning this position and would like more time to grow on the Board. Looking into my future, I would like to apply as an Executive Board Member.  I am also a Chamber Ambassador, something I feel equally passionate about. I enjoy being there to support our local businesses and assisting them with the benefits of being a Chamber Member. You will see me at 90% of the Chamber Before and After Hours events along with some of their fundraising events. I love working the front door and saying hi to all of our members and ensuring that those who are not Chamber members receive Membership information.

I am a local REALTOR® and am the owner and broker of NextHome Infinity Realty. I am heavily involved as an in-house broker making myself easily available for my agents and clients. I am also a volunteer in REALTOR® committees Locally, State and National Associations. I teach Accredited Buyer's Representation to REALTORS® around the state, and on the national level I am an Inspire Mentor for other REALTORS® throughout the country.

Thank you for considering my candidacy. Together we create lasting impact and ensure everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
