Harrison Pass
Located at the south end of the Ruby Mountains, these 4WD trails will provide ample opportunity for wildlife viewing and scenic mountain vistas.

Maggie Creek
Accessible both from Carlin and State Route 226, this county road is maintained gravel and dirt and very accessible by a sport utility vehicle. This route travels through a nice variety of mining and ranching areas along Maggie Creek. Plenty of wildlife is usually visible from the road.

Directions: Drive west on Interstate 80 to the main Carlin exit. Turn north at the intersection. The Isman Junction intersects this roads after approximately 7 miles (11.3 km). Turn east on Maggie Creek Road. Maggie Creek is also accessible on State Route 225.

Coal Mine Canyon
Just northeast of Elko, this well maintained dirt road provides access to several interesting 4WD trails. Plenty of rolling canyon driving makes this area fun to explore.

Directions: Drive east on Interstate 80 to Ryndon exit. Drive north from Ryndon on Coal Mine Road. The trail begins 7 miloes (11.3 km) down this well-maintained dirt road and runs northwest through the canyon.

Merritt Mountain
Located north of Elko and east of Wildhorse Reservoir. Rich in historic mining culture as well as beautiful scenery and abundant wildlife. Near the ghost town of Patsville and Rio Tinto.

Directions: Drive north on State Route 225 for approximately 65 (104.7 km) to Wildhorse Reservoir.

Spruce Mountain
Located south of Wells on U.S. Highway 93. Trail winds through varied terrain offering wildlife viewing opportunities and goes near the site of the historic mining ghost town of Spruce Mountain.
